HAND TOOLS
Scythes
Our scythes are imported from Austria and are, in our opinion, the best available in the world. They are used around Kaiwaka Organics and the Kohatu Toa Community to manage the orchards and for the work that a weed eater could be used for. They are a pleasure to use and maintain.

Scythe Snath (handle)
$199.00
The handle is made from light wood with adjustable hand holds so that the user can position them for their personal comfort.
Scythe Blades
Made from forged steel.
55cm Blade
$128.00
Wolf, our scything expert, recommends this blade for extensive areas of long grass - prgress can be made quickly with this long blade.
45cm Blade
$120.00
This is the length that works best in an orchard herbal ley situation. Good for cutting gnarly weeds and plants like blackberry.
Peening Jig
$164.00
Each time you use the scythe you usually give it a quick sharpen with a stone. After a lot of use, maybe once or twice a year your scythe blade will need peening. Peening keeps the blade strong and even takes out the nicks and damage that it incurs over time.
Round Sickle
$56.50

These are right handled.
Garden Sharks

Garden sharks feel like they have been designed for the sort of weeding that you end up with often that need the sharks'teeth: heavy thistles, long grass around trees and steep banks.
They are like a hand weed-eater - very appropriate technology
