The Bokashi Compost Zing system is 2 buckets that nest one upon the other. The outer bucket has a tight-fitting lid and the inner bucket has holes in the bottom to allow drainage of any liquids into the outer bucket. This can be emptied regularly during the fermentation period and can be put straight into your garden.
Each unit comes with a bag of Compost-Zing. A small amount sprinkled onto the waste food scraps begins the fermentation process. Compost-Zing turns your kitchen waste into an organic soil conditioner. It consists of plant by-products inoculated and fermented with Effective Micro-Organisms (EM). EM is a complex culture of beneficial organisms which have a reviving effect. The help balance the microbial ecology of the soil once the fermented kitchen waste is dug into your garden. They also supply nutrients to the soil.

Liquid Fish is great when you need a good dose of nitrogen to get things up and growing. Sea products contain many of the essential micro-nutrients that are leached out of our soils (and into the sea!) and fish are high in nitrogen. Any plants with yellowish leaves need something like fish or strong liquid comfrey. Fish is important and excellent food for micro-organisms as well.

PEST CONTROL
When we have problems with pests or diseases at Kaiwaka Organics we look to see what is causing the problems before we rush in with any kind of (even organic) spray. It is usually that the roots of the tree are either too wet or dry, the wrong root stock as been used, the plant has gone in at the wrong time of year, maybe there are not enough flowers around to feed the beneficial insects or predator wasps. We try to create a diverse, integrated environment and to keep things in balance. We see these sprays as a last resort, and they can be helpful to support the plant or tree while we go through the process of finding out the real problem.
NEEM
We use Neem products to control garden pests. It is a natural product from the Neem tree. It will not effect most adult insects, so ladybirds, bees, etc are safe and it is also harmless to chooks, ducks and worms.
